Lucas Sims: Breaking News

Sims was designated for assignment by the White Sox on Thursday. Sims has pitched in nine games out of Chicago's bullpen and has registered a 4.50 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 10:7 K:BB across 10 innings. With Sims jettisoned from the 40-man roster, the White Sox selected Tyler Davis' contract from Triple-A Charlotte.

The White Sox selected Sims' contract from Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday. Sims fell short of winning a spot in the White Sox's Opening Day bullpen, but after striking out two batters over a scoreless inning in his lone outing at Triple-A Charlotte to begin the season, he's earned a quick call-up to the majors. The White Sox designated right-hander Jedixson Paez for assignment to clear a spot on the 40-man roster and in the bullpen for Sims.

Sims and the White Sox agreed on a minor-league contract Sunday, Bruce Levine of 670TheScore.com reports. Sims was let go by Chicago on Friday, but he has now returned to the team. The right-hander has tossed five scoreless innings while recording seven strikeouts over five appearances with the White Sox so far during spring training.
