The Twins selected Garcia's contract from Triple-A St. Paul on Tuesday. Garcia signed a minor-league deal with Minnesota last Tuesday, and after giving up one earned run over two appearances at St. Paul, he'll join the big club to replace the injured Garrett Acton (shoulder). Garcia has already made six MLB appearances with the Mets this year and gave up five earned runs across 6.1 innings, so he'll likely be limited to low-leverage work with the Twins. Zak Kent was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

Luis García: Breaking News
Gets MiLB pact from Twins
The Twins signed Garcia to a minor-league contract Tuesday, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports. Garcia was released by the Mets last week after allowing five earned runs on 11 hits with a 4:2 K:BB over 6.1 innings. The 39-year-old will report to Triple-A St. Paul for now but could earn a promotion sooner rather than later to help out the beleaguered Twins bullpen.
Becomes free agent
The Mets released Garcia on Tuesday. Garcia passed through waivers unclaimed after being removed from the 40-man roster, and the Mets have now officially cut him loose. The 39-year-old yielded five earned runs on 11 hits with a 4:2 K:BB across his first 6.1 frames this season and will likely have to settle for a minor-league contract if he wants to continue his playing career.
