Foster (back) elected free agency Monday. The White Sox removed Foster from their 40-man roster and he has chosen free agency rather than accepting an outright assignment. Foster finished the 2024 season on the injured list with a back injury and it's not clear what his current health situation is.
Foster was placed on the 15-day injured list Friday with a lower-back disc herniation. The move is retroactive to Sept. 12. Foster gave up two runs in 3.2 innings over four appearances since getting recalled from Triple-A Charlotte on Sept. 3. Jake Eder was promoted in a corresponding move.
