The Angels selected Sandlin's contract from Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday. The right-hander joined the Angels as a non-roster invitee in January, and he opened the season at Triple-A after missing most of spring training while completing his rehab from offseason arthroscopic surgery on his elbow. Sandlin posted a 2.20 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 16:8 K:BB across 16.1 regular-season innings with Toronto last season and should fill a low-leverage relief role for the Halos.

Nick Sandlin: Breaking News
Could make spring debut Sunday
Sandlin (elbow) is listed among the Angels' available relievers for Sunday's Cactus League game against the Rockies, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. The Angels haven't confirmed that Sandlin will pitch Sunday, but his inclusion on the lineup card nonetheless indicates that he's fully ramped back up after he was eased along during the first few weeks of spring training while he recovered from an offseason arthroscopic procedure on his right elbow. Since he's attending camp as a non-roster invitee, Sandlin likely won't have sufficient time to stake a claim to a spot in the Angels' Opening Day bullpen, but he could put himself in the mix for an early call-up if he pitches effectively at Triple-A Salt Lake to begin the season.
Faces hitters Saturday
Sandlin (elbow) threw a live batting practice session Saturday, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. It's the first time Sandlin has faced live batters this spring, as he continues to work his way back from an arthroscopic elbow procedure he underwent in the fall. It's still unclear how far away he is from making his debut in the Cactus League, but he's likely to grab a spot in the Angels' bullpen once he's fully healthy.
