McMahon is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics. McMahon is in the midst of one of his best stretches of the season, having gone 9-for-29 (.310 average) with three home runs, one stolen base, six RBI and five runs over his last eight games. The Yankees will hold him out of the starting nine Sunday with southpaw Jacob Lopez on the hill, but the left-handed-hitting McMahon should continue to receive regular at-bats against right-handed pitching while he's swinging a hot bat.

Ryan McMahon: Breaking News
Homers again Friday
McMahon went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 8-2 win over the Athletics. McMahon continues to heat up -- he's gone 7-for-25 (.280) with three homers and six RBI over his last seven games. The third baseman is now hitting .200 with a .613 OPS, 19 RBI, 15 runs scored, four doubles and three stolen bases over 158 plate appearances this season. As long as he's hitting well, he should maintain a strong-side platoon role at the hot corner.
Launches homer Wednesday
McMahon went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 7-0 win over the Royals. McMahon had been on the bench for the previous two games for presumably matchup-related reasons. He's not struggling right now -- the third baseman has gone 6-for-21 (.286) with two homers, five RBI and a stolen base over his last six contests. On the season, he's hitting just .199 with a .594 OPS, five homers, 18 RBI, 14 runs scored, three steals and four doubles across 51 contests. McMahon has primarily worked as a strong-side platoon option this season. If his overall numbers don't improve, he could cede some time to Amed Rosario, who has an .835 OPS over 45 plate appearances versus right-handed pitchers despite being McMahon's main platoon partner at the hot corner.
