The Diamondbacks released Hatch on Thursday. It's not clear whether Hatch exercised an opt-out clause or if this is a traditional release. He posted a 4.01 ERA and 34:10 K:BB over 51.2 innings covering 11 starts with Triple-A Reno.

Thomas Hatch: Breaking News
Falls short in roster bid
The Diamondbacks reassigned Hatch to minor-league camp Thursday, Alex D'Agostino of SI.com reports. Hatch joined Arizona on a minor-league deal in January after he spent the 2025 season in the Royals and Twins organizations, logging a 5.82 ERA, 1.68 WHIP and 22:17 K:BB over 34 big-league innings between the two stops. After the right-hander was unable to win a spot on Arizona's Opening Day roster, he'll likely serve as a swingman at Triple-A Reno to begin the 2026 campaign.
Invited to D-backs' camp
Hatch signed a minor-league contract with the Diamondbacks on Thursday that includes an invitation to spring training. After spending the 2024 season in Japan, Hatch returned to MLB in 2025 but struggled to find success, finishing the year with a 5.82 ERA and 1.68 WHIP across 34 innings between the Royals and Twins. The 31-year-old will now aim to bounce back with the D-backs, but he'll likely have to prove himself at Triple-A Reno before getting a chance to join Arizona's pitching staff.
