Troy Johnston: Breaking News

Johnston went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, a stolen and a run scored Saturday against the Dodgers. Johnston entered Saturday's game having collected only two hits across his last 17 at-bats, while also striking out at a 30 percent clip. He turned things around against the Dodgers, delivering a two-RBI double in the sixth inning to put Colorado ahead for good. Johnston has started 13 of the team's last 15 games against right-handed pitchers, splitting his time between right field and first base.

Johnston is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres. The left-handed-hitting Johnston will sit for the second time in the series, with both of his absences coming against right-handed pitching. Johnston appeared to have settled into a near-everyday role after posting an impressive .954 OPS through his first 11 games of the campaign, but his grip on a regular spot in the lineup may be loosening after 0-for-4 efforts in his last two starts.

Johnston isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against San Diego. Johnston will head to the bench Friday after going 0-for-4 with a walk and two strikeouts during Thursday's loss. Tyler Freeman will start in right field as a result and bat second.
