UFC on Versus 5: Lytle, Hardy Square Off in Welterweight Clash

Dan Hardy

Former top welterweights clash at UFC on Versus 5

Welterweights Chris Lytle and Dan Hardy will face off at UFC on Versus 5.

The event takes place Aug. 14 at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee.

Lytle and Hardy have both expressed interest in facing each other in recent months, and UFC officials were listening. It’s likely the final shot in the UFC for Hardy, a brash British striker who once faced Georges St. Pierre for the UFC welterweight title but has lost his last three bouts.

Lytle carried a four-fight win streak into his last bout and was earning serious consideration as a title contender, but lost in an upset to wacky veteran Brian Ebersole at UFC 127 in February. Lytle considered retirement after that bout, but the fight with Hardy was enough to keep him interested, at least for one more fight.

UFC on Versus 5 features several strong attractions, including a bout between lightweight contenders Jim Miller and Ben Henderson that is expected to serve as the main event of the evening.
