Rick Story spoke to HeavyMMA on Sunday morning about his former scheduled opponent Nate Marquardt being pulled from his fight and then fired from the UFC.
“All I heard was that he didn’t pass his medicals and that I wasn’t going to be fighting him,” Story said. “Then the UFC came to me and said I can fight Brenneman now, so I said let’s do it.”
“Just coming off of a win against Alves and jumping back into the octagon less than 4 weeks later is a bold statement and it doesn’t matter who I’m fighting. I think that proves that I back it up when I say that I’ll fight anyone, anywhere at any time. A lot of fighters say that and never follow through. I’m doing it and that’s what I’m here to prove.”
Story faces Charlie Brenneman tonight on UFC on Versus 4.
