Baylor Scheierman: Breaking News

Scheierman is not in Boston's starting lineup against Philadelphia for Game 1 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs Sunday. The Celtics rested all of their starters and prominent role players in their regular-season finale against the Magic on April 12, which led to Scheierman starting and finishing with 30 points, seven assists, seven rebounds, two steals and one block over 38 minutes in a 113-108 win. The second-year pro has established a consistent role for himself off the bench this season, and he should maintain that role in the playoffs.

Scheierman recorded 30 points (8-20 FG, 6-14 3Pt, 8-8 FT), seven rebounds, seven assists, two steals and a block in 38 minutes during Sunday's 113-108 win over the Magic. Scheierman stepped into a featured role due to the Celtics benching the majority of their rotation players for the regular-season finale, and he took full advantage of the opportunity with a career-high 30 points. Unsurprisingly, Scheierman did much of his work from beyond the arc, connecting on a team-high six threes, which matched his career high. On top of his scoring, Scheierman dished out a career-high seven assists. In an expanded role over the last three games, Sheierman has averaged 19.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game.

Scheierman is in Boston's starting lineup against Orlando on Sunday. Scheierman has come off the bench in each of the Celtics' last six games, but he'll make his 20th start of the season Sunday with all of the starters sitting, including Jayson Tatum (Achilles) and Jaylen Brown (Achilles). As a starter this season, Scheierman has averaged 8.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists. 1.8 threes and 0.8 steals over 27.8 minutes per game.
