Braxton Key: Breaking News

Waived by Memphis

The Grizzlies waived Key on Saturday. Key, who was previously on an Exhibit 10 deal, is now set to join the Memphis Hustle in the G League.

Signs with Memphis

The Grizzlies signed Key to a deal Wednesday. Key is coming off a campaign in which he was named the G League's Defensive Player of the Year for 2024-25, and he'll be an option to begin the new season with the G League's Memphis Hustle. Last year, the forward averaged 18.4 points, 9.5 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 2.9 steals and 1.0 blocks in 32.7 minutes while shooting 50.5 percent from the floor over G League 33 regular-season contests across time with the San Diego Clippers and Santa Cruz Warriors.

Rare appearance in Game 5 loss

Key logged zero points (0-7 FG, 0-1 3Pt), seven rebounds and one steal across 12 minutes during Wednesday's 131-116 loss to the Rockets in Game 5 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs. Key, along with a host of other fringe players, saw additional minutes as the Warriors were soundly defeated. The starters were basically given the second half off, allowing the second and third units to log additional minutes. Golden State will look to wrap up the series at home on Friday.
