Evan Fournier: Breaking News

Finalizing a deal overseas

Fournier and Olympiacos have agreed to a three-year contract, Eurohoops reports. After 12 seasons in the NBA, Fournier is headed overseas where he will become a featured player for Olympiacos. In 704 career regular-season games, Fournier posted averages of 13.6 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.9 three-pointers while shooting 44.1 percent from the field.

Scores 10 points in loss to Germany

Fournier had 10 points (2-5 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 4-4 FT), one rebound and one assist in Friday's 85-71 loss to Germany. Fournier was one of three France players who scored in double digits in this loss, alongside Victor Wembanyama and Isaia Cordinier. Even though the final stat line wasn't exactly eye-popping, it's worth noting Fournier should remain one of France's most reliable offensive weapons in the knockout stages. A strong showing in the Olympics could entice an NBA team to take a gamble on Fournier before the start of training camp.

Team declines option

The Pistons have declined to pick up Fournier's $19 million team option, James L. Edwards III of The Athletic reports. This was the expected move, as Fournier was not expected to be a part of Pistons' future plans at his price tag. The veteran wing was on the outside looking in on the Knicks' rotation last season before being dealt to Detroit prior to the deadline. He then averaged 7.2 points, 1.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.1 triples across 18.7 minutes in 29 games with the team. It remains to be seen what type of opportunities will come his way in free agency.
