Georges Niang: Breaking News

Waived by Memphis

The Grizzlies will waive Niang (foot) on Thursday, Grant Afseth of DallasHoopsJournal.com reports. The Grizzlies needed to clear up a roster space to complete their Eric Gordon trade. Niang has yet to play this season while recovering from offseason foot surgery and remains without a timetable to return.

Traded to Memphis

The Jazz traded Niang (foot), Walter Clayton, Taylor Hendricks, Kyle Anderson (illness) and three first-round picks to the Grizzlies on Tuesday in exchange for Jaren Jackson, John Konchar (neck), Jock Landale and Vince Williams, per Shams Charania of ESPN. Niang continues to recover from offseason foot surgery, which prevented him from making his season debut with Utah. The forward remains without a clear timeline for a return, so it's difficult to envision how Niang's presence might affect the Memphis rotation until he finally takes the floor in 2025-26.

Remains out indefinitely

Niang (foot) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against Toronto. Niang remains without a timetable for a return as he recovers from a fourth metatarsal stress reaction in his left foot. He should be considered week-to-week until the Jazz offer an update on his progress.
