Time in Utah ends

Chandler became a free agent Saturday after his second 10-day contract with the Jazz expired. Over the course of his two 10-day deals, Chandler saw ample involvement while Utah has been without several key players due to injury. While appearing in each of the Jazz's last 11 games, Chandler averaged 15.0 points, 6.7 assists, 3.4 rebounds, 1.4 three-pointers and 1.0 steals in 32.2 minutes per contest and shot 44.5 percent from the field and 39.5 percent from downtown. Though Utah has the option to retain Chandler on a rest-of-season deal, the 23-year-old guard doesn't look as though he'll be re-signed ahead of Sunday's season finale versus the Lakers. Instead, Shams Charania of ESPN relays that the Jazz intend to sign guard Hayden Gray to a two-year deal to take over Chandler's vacated roster spot.

Starting Friday

Chandler is in the Jazz's starting lineup against the Grizzlies on Friday. The Jazz are down several players for Friday's game and opted to insert Chandler into the starting lineup minutes before the 9:30 p.m. ET tipoff. The 2022 second-rounder is coming off a career performance against the Pelicans on Tuesday, when he played 43 minutes and finished with 31 points, eight assists, seven rebounds, two steals and two three-pointers in a 156-137 loss.

Chandler produced 31 points (11-18 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 7-8 FT), seven rebounds, eight assists and two steals over 43 minutes during Tuesday's 156-137 loss to the Pelicans. Although he didn't start this game, Chandler logged 43 minutes and set multiple career-high marks. The Jazz are giving him an extended look to close out the season, and he's averaging 13.5 points, 5.8 assists, 3.3 rebounds, 0.8 steals and 0.8 three-pointers in 30.0 minutes over his last four games.
