Monté Morris: Breaking News

Waived by Indiana

The Pacers waived Morris on Thursday, ESPN's Shams Charania reports. Morris was on a one-year deal with the Pacers, but the franchise will cut ties with him in order to sign Jeremiah Robinson-Earl to a standard deal. Across six appearances with the Pacers, Morris averaged 3.0 points, 1.5 assists and 1.2 rebounds in 10.8 minutes per contest.

Logs 15 minutes in debut

Morris notched three points (1-5 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 1-2 FT), two rebounds and one steal in 15 minutes during Saturday's 117-100 loss to the Nuggets. Morris played his first game for the Pacers, logging 15 minutes off the bench. Brought in to provide the team with some much-needed guard depth, Morris is likely to serve as the second or third point guard on the roster. At this point, there is no reason to think he will sniff fantasy value.

Joining team for Saturday

Morris (calf) is set to join the Pacers in Denver for the start of their four-game road trip Saturday against the Nuggets, Tony East of Forbes.com reports. Morris' calf injury gave the Pacers hesitation to sign him back in September, but they agreed to a deal once again Thursday that has now become official. With the veteran guard now appearing to be over the issue, Morris is in line to be available off the bench Saturday. He's projected to compete with the likes of RayJ Dennis, Cody Martin and Taelon Peter for backcourt playing time.
