Headed to free agency

The Knicks will decline Tucker's $3.4 million team option for 2025-26 on Sunday, Ian Begley of SportsNet New York reports. The veteran signed two 10-day contracts with New York in March before landing a one-year deal with the club in April. However, he totaled only four appearances during the 2024-25 campaign, including a four-minute cameo in the playoffs.

Limited playing time in 2024-25

Tucker finished the 2024-25 campaign with averages of 3.0 points and 2.7 rebounds across 19.3 minutes per game in three regular-season outings (one start). Tucker signed two 10-day contracts with New York in March before landing a one-year deal with the club in April. The veteran forward made only one postseason appearance, and the Knicks hold a team option on his contract for next season. Should the 40-year-old choose to continue playing, he'll likely serve as sparsely deployed veteran depth considering his age.

Moving back to bench role

Tucker is not in the starting lineup for Game 1 against the Pistons on Saturday, Kristian Winfield of the New York Daily News reports. The Knicks will revert to their regular starting lineup in the series opener against Detroit, meaning Tucker returns to his bench role. The veteran forward isn't expected to have a sizable role in the postseason.
