Let go by Houston

The Rockets waived Council on Saturday, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports. This was an expected move after Council signed an Exhibit 10 deal on Oct. 17. Council is set up to join the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in the G League.

Signs pact with Houston

Council agreed to a contract with the Rockets on Friday, Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.com reports. While specifics of the deal are unknown, Council likely signed a non-guaranteed pact. If he's waived, the Arkansas product is expected to join Houston's G League affiliate, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, to begin the 2025-26 season. Over 73 regular-season appearances with Philadelphia in 2024-25, Council averaged 7.3 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 17.1 minutes per contest.

Not joining Nets

Council will not be joining the Nets for training camp, Sharif Phillips-Keaton of USA Today reports. While reports indicated Council signed a one-year deal to join the Nets, he will ultimately not be joining the team, making him a free agent. Council is coming off a season with the 76ers during which he averaged 7.3 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 17.1 minutes per contest across 73 appearances. Council should garner interest ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.
