Ambry Thomas: Everything you need to know

The Vikings signed Thomas (forearm) to their practice squad Tuesday, Craig Peters of the team's official site reports. Thomas suffered a fractured forearm in training camp and was waived from the 49ers' injured reserve Dec. 17. He was claimed by Indianapolis two days later but didn't end up with the organization due to a failed physical. However, Thomas appears to now be healthy, and he'll look to impress the playoff-bound Vikings during his time on their practice squad.

Thomas suffered a broken forearm in the 49ers' 17-13 preseason loss to the Titans on Saturday, David Lombardi of The Athletic reports. Thomas left shortly before halftime Saturday and finished the contest with one tackle. The injury will mean a multi-week absence for the 2021 third-round pick that could extend into the first few games of the regular season. With Thomas sidelined, Isaac Yiadom and Rock Ya-Sin are the top candidates to push for the second starting job at corner opposite Charvarius Ward.

Thomas will not return to Saturday's preseason game against the Titans due to a forearm injury. Thomas sustained the injury shortly before halftime and took a cart to the locker room. He'll finish the 49ers' preseason opener with one tackle. Expect Isaac Yiadom, Rock Ya-Sin, Chase Lucas and Samuel Womack to see more time at corner in the second half of Saturday's game.
