Cooks hauled in three of seven targets for 16 yards and one touchdown during Thursday's 27-20 win against the Giants. In his first game action since Week 4, Cooks didn't seem to be on the same page with QB Cooper Rush for large portions of this Week 13 divisional clash, but the two eventually connected for a two-yard touchdown on the Cowboys' first possession of the second half to extend the lead to 20-10. And with Dallas clinging to a 27-20 score at the two-minute warning of the fourth quarter, they again hooked up for a three-yard gain on third-and-2 to effectively salt the game away. Cooks will aim for an improved rapport with Rush when the team next takes the field Monday, Dec. 9 versus the Bengals.

Scores key TD in return to action
Gets all clear for return
Cooks (knee), who was activated from injured reserve Wednesday, doesn't have a designation for Thursday's contest versus the Giants, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports. Cooks last played Week 4 at the Giants, as he required an IR stint in the meantime due to an infection stemming from a knee procedure. He was listed as limited at walkthroughs Monday and Tuesday, but his ability to handle a full practice Wednesday indicates he should be able to handle a normal workload Week 13. Before he got injured, Cooks earned at least a 75 percent snap share in each of the first four games of the season, but he mustered just a 9-91-1 line on 19 targets working with Dak Prescott. With Prescott (hamstring) out for the season, Cooks will be on the receiving end of passes from Cooper Rush (knee).
Activated from IR
The Cowboys activated Cooks (knee) from injured reserve Thursday, Patrik Walker of the team's official site reports. The Cowboys listed Cook as a limited practice participant throughout last week and again this Monday and Tuesday. They have apparently seen enough from Cooks to have him play for the first time since Week 4, although it's unclear if he'll have a full-time role Thursday against the Giants. Cooks took at least 79 percent of snaps over the Cowboys' first four games before suffering an infection in his right knee during a minor medical procedure. He should be back Thursday after missing seven consecutive games.
Remains limited Tuesday
Cooks (knee) remained limited in Tuesday's practice, Jane Slater of NFL Network reports. Cooks is still on injured reserve but appears to be nearing a return after he was designated for return last week. He practiced on a limited basis all last week leading up to Week 12 against the Commanders, so it's unclear if he has a real chance to play Thursday against the Giants.
Not returning in Week 12
Cooks (knee) was not activated by the Cowboys on Saturday and will not play against the Commanders on Sunday, Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports. A right knee infection landed Cooks on injured reserve Oct. 5, and he's since missed more than the required four games. The veteran receiver was designated to return from IR on Wednesday and was able to participate in a limited fashion in all three of Dallas' practices this week, though Friday was a walkthrough session. Despite his return to practice, Cooks isn't ready to return to the field against Washington on Sunday, but there's a possibility he will be activated ahead of next Thursday's Thanksgiving game against the Giants.
May return Sunday
Cooks (knee), who remains on injured reserve, is listed as questionable for Sunday's contest at Washington, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports. Cooks required an IR stint, starting Week 5, due to an infection that developed in his right knee following a surgical procedure. Since he was designated to return from injured reserve Tuesday, he sandwiched a pair of limited walkthroughs around Thursday's capped practice. The Cowboys will need to activate Cooks by 4:00 p.m. ET on Saturday in order for him to have a chance to play Sunday. If that comes to pass, he could be eased into the mix behind top WR CeeDee Lamb (back/foot), who followed an LP/DNP/FP practice regimen this week and doesn't have a game designation.
Stays limited Thursday
Cooks (knee) practiced on a limited basis Thursday, Joe Hoyt of AllDLLS.com reports. Cooks followed up Wednesday's capped walkthrough with another limited listing one day later. The Cowboys designated him for return from injured reserve Tuesday, and he's seeking his first game action since Week 4 after developing an infection in his right knee from a minor surgery. With CeeDee Lamb (back/foot) going from limited to no activity in the first two days of Week 12 prep, Cooks could be in line for a bigger role in the Dallas passing game if the team opts to activate him in advance of Sunday's contest is Washington.
Listed as limited
Cooks (knee) is listed as a limited participant after Wednesday's walk-through practice, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports. Cooks resumed practicing one day after the Cowboys designated him to return from injured reserve. There's a 21-day window in which he can practice without being activated to the roster, but head coach Mike McCarthy suggested Tuesday that Cooks could play as soon as Sunday against the Commanders. The 31-year-old didn't have much luck working with Dak Prescott (IR - hamstring) earlier this season and isn't likely to do much for fantasy managers now that the Cowboys have backup Cooper Rush starting at QB.
Resumes practicing Tuesday
Dallas designated Cooks (knee) for return from injured reserve Wednesday, Patrik Walker of the Cowboys' official site reports. Cooks will resume practicing with the Cowboys on Wednesday, opening up a 21-day window for the team to evaluate him for a return to the 53-man roster. The veteran wideout hasn't suited up since the Cowboys' Sept. 26 win over the Giants after developing an infection on his right knee from a minor surgical procedure, and given the length of his absence, he may need more than one week of practice before Dallas is willing to clear him for game action. Whenever he's activated, Cooks should reclaim a regular spot in three-receiver sets alongside CeeDee Lamb and Jalen Tolbert.
