Bryce Huff: Breaking News

Hangs up cleats

Huff informed the 49ers on Thursday that he's retiring from the NFL. Huff is still just 27 years old and remained productive for San Francisco last season, recording 30 tackles (14 solo), including 4.0 sacks, and a pair of forced fumbles across 15 regular-season appearances. He spent the first four seasons of his career with the Jets, followed by one-year stints with the Eagles and Niners. Huff wraps up his career with 24.0 sacks across 81 regular-season contests, including 21 starts.

Records four sacks with SF

Huff appeared in 15 games for the 49ers in 2025 and finished the regular season with 30 tackles (14 solo), 4.0 sacks and two forced fumbles. Huff was dealt to San Francisco after struggling to fit in with Philadelphia after signing a three-year contract with the Eagles in 2024. The pass-rush specialist couldn't sniff his previous career high of 10.0 sacks, but the 4.0 he recorded with the 49ers checked in as his second-highest mark through six years in the league. Huff remains under contract for the 2026 campaign, but he doesn't provide enough upside as an IDP option in fantasy when he only sees the field on passing downs.

Cleared to return Week 10

Huff (hamstring) does not carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Rams, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports. Huff missed the 49ers' last two games due to a hamstring strain, but he has been cleared to make his return against Los Angeles after logging a full practice Friday. His return is timely for the 49ers, given that fellow defensive ends Mykel Williams (knee - ACL), Yetur Gross-Matos (knee) and Nick Bosa (knee - ACL) are all on injured reserve. Huff has accumulated 19 tackles (11 solo), including 4.0 sacks, one pass defense and two forced fumbles across seven regular-season games.
