Signs to practice squad

Taylor signed with the Patriots' practice squad Wednesday. Taylor was picked up by the Patriots after being waived by the Texans on Monday. The 28-year-old was recently activated off injured reserve, playing in just four games this season, accounting for three tackles (one solo) on 35 defensive snaps and 29 on special teams.

Released to make room for Reed

Taylor was released by the Texans on Monday, Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle reports. Taylor is being released less than a week after being activated from injured reserve. This move paves the way for the Texans to activate safety Jaylen Reed (forearm) from injured reserve ahead of Monday's wild-card game at Pittsburgh.

Activated from IR

The Texans activated Taylor (ankle) to the 53-man roster from injured reserve Tuesday. Taylor resumed practicing in full mid-December, so it appears he'll be ready to contribute during Monday's wild-card round matchup against the Steelers. Expect the defensive end to handle a depth role on defense and also take snaps on special teams.
