Garoppolo is reportedly considering retirement, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Garoppolo has spent the last two seasons with the Rams as Matthew Stafford's top backup, but the 34-year-old, who has 64 career regular-season starts to his credit, has yet to decide if he'll continue playing in 2026. For now, Stafford and Stetson Bennett are the QBs the Rams currently have under contract, but it's possible the team could add depth at the position at the upcoming NFL Draft.

Garoppolo didn't attempt any pass attempts during three regular-season games in 2025. Garoppolo served as the Rams' backup quarterback in 2025 and had a career low in both pass yards and games played, as Matthew Stafford remained healthy for the entire season. Garoppolo is set to become a free agent this offseason and will likely look to earn a backup role on another team.

Garoppolo (back) is active for Sunday's divisional-round contest versus the Bears. Garoppolo popped up with a back issue on Thursday's injury report, but he'll still suit up and maintain his role as Los Angeles' backup quarterback behind Matthew Stafford. Meanwhile, Stetson Bennett (coach's decision) will operate as the emergency No. 3 quarterback, and he will only be eligible to enter if both Garoppolo and Stafford are forced out.
