Nelson Agholor Latest News
Makes pair of grabs Sunday
Agholor caught two of three targets for 10 yards in Sunday's win over the Bills. Agholor's usage has bounced between one and three targets over the first month of the season. His most important play arguably came on an incompletion as he broke up what could have been a Buffalo interception in the second quarter. The veteran has yet to catch a touchdown this year and he is routinely playing roughly 50 percent of the snaps each week. The Ravens hit the road to face the Bengals in Week 5.
Big gain against Cowboys
Agholor secured his lone target for a 56-yard gain Sunday against the Cowboys. Once again Agholor was lightly used despite playing a healthy amount of snaps. However, he made the most of his opportunity by breaking a 56-yard gain with plenty of those yards coming after the catch. Agholor played just one fewer snap than Rashod Bateman, but neither played a particularly high snap share overall at 60 and 62 percent, respectively. The veteran remains a fringe option in very deep formats, and while he gets plenty of playing time, his 5.8 percent target share and 15.2 percent target per route rate are far from ideal for production.
Targeted three times Sunday
Agholor had a 13-yard reception on three targets in Sunday's loss to the Raiders. The veteran saw his snap share jump from 35 percent to 54 percent in Sunday's game. However, Agholor's actual involvement in the passing game was minimal as he drew three targets on 35 snaps. Agholor will be on the field when the Ravens deploy three-wide sets, but he is far down the pecking order in terms of targets.
One catch in opener
Agholor played 38 percent of the snaps Thursday against the Chiefs and caught his lone target for a six-yard gain. The veteran reportedly had a solid training camp but it did not translate into a large role in the season-opener. The Ravens did not use many three-wide sets and the duo of Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman were on the field for the vast majority of snaps. With Isaiah Likely emerging as a weapon in the offense, the Ravens may continue to replicate the personnel packages they employed Thursday, which squeezes Agholor's usage upside.
Feels more comfortable in offense
Agholor recently told reporters he and his teammates have a better understanding of Baltimore's scheme in the second season under offensive coordinator Todd Monken. The Ravens need to replace three starting linemen but mostly opted for continuity at skill positions, with the big exception being Derrick Henry replacing Gus Edwards in the backfield. They also lost WR Odell Beckham, who was a part-time player last season, and didn't bring in any early draft picks or pricey free agents at the position, instead re-signing Agholor, extending Rashod Bateman and taking Devontez Walker in the fourth round. Coach John Harbaugh made multiple comments this offseason about viewing Bateman as the starter opposite No. 1 receiver Zay Flowers, which means Agholor profiles as the No. 3 heading into training camp. With FB Patrick Ricard and backup tight end Isaiah Likely both candidates to play 20-plus snaps a game, Baltimore almost certainly will rank near the bottom of the league in usage of three-wide formations, per usual.
Makes one grab against Chargers
The veteran played 41 percent of the snaps Sunday, which is in line with his usage rates over the course of the season when the rest of the receiving corps is healthy. Agholor has seen two or fewer targets in six straight weeks and has recorded four receptions for 72 yards and two touchdowns in that span. Even with Mark Andrews' injury opening up plenty of targets to get redistributed, Agholor does not appear to be a candidate to see more work. Baltimore is on a bye in Week 13 before returning to action against the Rams on December 10.
Snags touchdown on lone target
The veteran only played 37 percent of the snaps Sunday, which was fourth among Baltimore receivers as Zay Flowers, Odell Beckham and Rashod Bateman checked in as the primary wideouts in three-wide looks. Still, Agholor made his opportunity count as he reeled in his second touchdown of the season. Agholor's snap count will be something to monitor for those rostering him in deeper formats as Sunday marked the first time since Week 2 that he didn't play at least 50 percent of the snaps. Baltimore travels to Arizona to face the Cardinals in Week 8.
