Mullens completed all three of his passing attempts for 19 yards while appearing in five games for the Jaguars in 2025. He also had 12 rushing attempts for minus-8 yards. Mullens won the backup quarterback job in Jacksonville after signing with the team in March. He maintained the role through the entire 2025 season and played a total of 36 offensive snaps. The eight-year veteran is entering his final season under contract with the Jaguars and is expected to compete for the backup role once again.
Mullens is in line to sign with the Jaguars on a two-year, $6.5 million contract, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports. Mullens, now heading into his age-30 season, looks primed to operate as the new backup to Trevor Lawrence, with Mac Jones scheduled to depart Jacksonville in free agency. Across four regular-season appearances with Minnesota in 2024, Mullens completed two of two pass attempts for 38 yards and zero touchdowns or interceptions. Back in 2023 with the Vikings, he completed 100 of 148 pass attempts for 1,306 yards, seven touchdowns and eight interceptions (five appearances).
Novak scored a power-play goal on three shots and blocked two shots in Thursday's 2-1 win over the Jets. Novak's goal at 15:29 of the first period stood as the game-winner. It was his first goal in four contests since the NHL resumed after the 4 Nations Face-Off -- prior to the break, the 27-year-old had six goals and four assists over a 10-game span. For the season, he's up to 12 goals, 20 points, 85 shots on net, 20 blocked shots and a minus-3 rating over 49 appearances. Novak is on pace for his worst full NHL campaign, but he's done enough to maintain a middle-six role.
