Coach DeMeco Ryans called Collins (hamstring) week-to-week Monday, Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle reports. "It takes a couple of weeks for a hamstring," Ryans said. "So we'll evaluate him on a week-to-week basis." Collins' week-to-week status casts doubt on his availability for Sunday's game against the Patriots, though more clarity on his potential availability should surface when the Texans submit their first practice report Wednesday. Ryans originally labeled Collins day-to-day after the star receiver was injured in this past Sunday's 23-20 win over Buffalo, but the slightly less optimistic week-to-week assessment is more realistic. Despite exiting in the first half against Buffalo, Collins leads the NFL with 567 receiving yards.

Called week-to-week by coach
Viewed as day-to-day
Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans said after Sunday's 23-20 win over the Bills that Collins is day-to-day after exiting the game with a hamstring injury, Kristie Rieken of the Associated Press reports. Collins played just nine snaps and produced a 2-78-1 receiving line on his two targets before exiting the game early in the second quarter, when he tweaked his hamstring while legging out a 67-yard touchdown. Though the day-to-day label offers hope that Collins might be ready to return to action for next Sunday's game against the Patriots, the receiver's history of soft-tissue injuries could prompt the Texans to exercise some caution. Collins missed two games last season due to a calf strain and a recurrence of the injury, and he had been listed on the Texans' injury report ahead of Week 4 with a hamstring issue before turning in a 12-catch, 151-yard effort in a win over the Jaguars.
Won't be back Sunday
Collins (hamstring) won't return to Sunday's game against the Bills. Collins thus finishes up the day with two catches for 78 yards and a TD. In his absence, Stefon Diggs and Tank Dell are in line to lead the Texans' WR corps versus Buffalo, with Robert Woods, Xavier Hutchinson and John Metchie also in the mix.
Injures hamstring Sunday
Collins exited Sunday's game against the Bills with a hamstring injury. Prior to that, Collins caught both of his targets for 78 yards and a TD. In his absence, Stefon Diggs and Tank Dell are slated to lead the Texans' Week 5 WR corps, with Robert Woods, Xavier Hutchinson and John Metchie available to mix in.
Career day in Sunday's win
Collins caught 12 of 15 targets for 151 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 24-20 win over the Jaguars. The dozen receptions were a career high for Collins, while his season-high yardage marked the fourth time in 19 career games with C.J. Stroud as his QB that he's topped 150 yards. Collins has hit triple-digit yardage three times in four contests to begin the current campaign, and his 30-489-2 line on 43 targets makes him the first player in Texans history to amass at least 450 yards in the first four games of a season. Collins and the Houston passing game face a tough test in Week 5 against Buffalo.
Clear for Week 4
Collins (hamstring) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's game versus the Jaguars. The Texans tacked on Collins to their Week 4 practice report Thursday as limited due to a hamstring injury, which occasionally is a worrisome sign for upcoming availability. The fourth-year wide receiver put any questions about his status to rest earlier Friday, telling Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston, "Oh, absolutely," when asked about his ability to play Sunday. Collins also logged a full practice Friday, so he'll look to build upon his NFL-leading 338 receiving yards this weekend against a Jacksonville defense that has given up 8.95 YPT this season (10th worst in the league).
Practicing Friday
Collins (hamstring) was present for practice Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Collins was added to the Texans' Week 4 injury report after being limited Thursday, but his presence for Friday's practice is a positive sign in terms of his availability for Sunday's game against the Jaguars. The team's upcoming injury report will reveal whether Collins heads into the weekend with an injury designation or fully cleared to face Jacksonville.
Added to injury report
Collins (hamstring) was limited at practice Thursday. Collins practiced fully Wednesday, so his appearance on the Texans' injury report a day later is notable. Friday's final report will add further context regarding the wideout's availability ahead of Sunday's game against the Jaguars. Meanwhile, fellow WR Tank Dell (chest) logged his second straight 'DNP' on Thursday, which clouds his Week 4 status.
Tops 80 yards in loss
Collins caught four of 10 targets for 86 yards in Sunday's 34-7 loss to the Vikings. While the fourth-year wideout wasn't able to record his third straight 100-yard game to begin the season, Collins still put together a productive effort on big target volume. Four of his incompletions also came on the final drive of the day with Davis Mills under center rather than C.J. Stroud. Collins will look to put together a more efficient performance in Week 4 against the Jaguars.
