Both could be intriguing fantasy sleepers in 2024 drafts.

Looks secure as lead back
Moss retains his position atop the Bengals' backfield depth chart following the 2024 NFL Draft, Paul Dehner of The Athletic reports. Moss inked with Cincinnati as a free agent back in March, and though the team will certainly add some UDFAs to the mix, he has to be considered a huge winner for fantasy after the Bengals opted not to spend a single draft pick on the running back position. Coming off a breakout season with the Colts, Moss looks primed for a high-volume role considering his experience between the tackles and on third downs, while Chase Brown could act as a more explosive complement out of the backfield. Both could be intriguing fantasy sleepers in 2024 drafts.
Heading to Cincy
Moss agreed to terms on a two-year, $8 million contract with the Bengals on Monday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports. Moss vaults to the No. 1 spot on the running back depth chart for Cincinnati, as the team also released Joe Mixon on Monday. The 26-year-old is cashing in after an impressive showing during Jonathan Taylor's absence from the Colts last season. He finished the 2023 campaign with a career-high 794 yards and five touchdowns through the ground to go along with 192 yards and two touchdowns across 27 receptions through the air.
Eliminated from offense
Moss had slowly seen his role in the offense decline as Jonathan Taylor ramped back up after returning from an ankle injury. Sunday appeared to complete that process, as he saw only one touch as opposed to Taylor's 23. After an excellent start to the campaign, it appears that Moss has slipped into a true backup role.
Makes little impact in Week 9
The fourth-year running back produced his lowest yardage total and touch volume of the season, as the Colts didn't need to get much production from their offense on a day when the defense scored two touchdowns on interception returns. Moss's role has dwindled since Jonathan Taylor rejoined the team, but he'd still seen at least 12 touches in every game the duo was together in the Indy backfield prior to Sunday. Moss could resume his usual workload in Week 10 in what figures to be a more competitive matchup against the Patriots.
Continues producing in loss
Moss logged only one fewer carry than Jonathan Taylor, and both backs surprisingly found plenty of running room against the Saints' typically stout defense. Moss also scored his fourth touchdown in the last three games on a one-yard rush in the second quarter, making it a highly efficient afternoon. Moss figures to continue operating in a nearly even timeshare with Taylor on the road in a favorable matchup against the Panthers in Week 9.
Back at practice
Moss missed Wednesday's session, but his return to the field Thursday bodes well for his chances of being available for Sunday's game against the Saints. The Colts' upcoming injury report will reveal Moss's participation level, but he likely will need to practice fully by Friday in order to avoid a Week 8 injury designation.
Nursing two injuries
Moss' absence to begin Week 8 prep makes his status for Sunday's game against the Saints worth tracking. Both Moss and Jonathan Taylor logged 35 snaps on offense and 18 carries in this past weekend's 39-38 loss to the Browns, but Moss' injury could pave the way for Taylor to stake a claim to the majority of the work out of the backfield now that he'll be making his fourth appearance following a four-week stint on the PUP list to open the campaign. It's possible, however, that Moss received a maintenance day to start the practice week, a notion that would be supported by participation in Thursday's session, in any capacity.
Not at practice
Moss and Jonathan Taylor worked in a near-50/50 split for the second straight week in Sunday's 39-38 loss to the Browns. It may look different this Sunday against New Orleans, however, with Taylor coming off his best game of the season (120 total yards) and Moss perhaps nursing an injury. The Colts' official injury report should offer an explanation for the Wednesday absence.
