C.J. Uzomah: Breaking News

Won't play in Super Bowl LIX

The Eagles did not activate Uzomah (abdomen) from injured reserve, and he will not play in Super Bowl LIX against the Chiefs on Sunday, per the NFL's transaction log. Uzomah was a full participant in practice all week, but he will observe Sunday's game from the sidelines. The veteran tight end was signed to the Eagles' practice squad in early October before being signed to the active roster Dec. 4. Uzomah suffered an abdominal injury in Week 17 against the Cowboys, which was severe enough for him to be placed on IR. He did not record a target across the seven regular-season games he played in 2024.

Questionable for Super Bowl

Uzomah (abdomen), who remains on IR, practiced in full Friday and is officially listed as questionable for Super Bowl LIX on Sunday. Uzomah continues to practice in full, a sign that he's healthy enough to contribute during the Super Bowl, but the Eagles will need to officially activate Uzomah to the 53-man roster by Saturday's deadline in order for him to compete versus Kansas City. If Uzomah is brought to the active roster in time to suit up Sunday, he'll contribute behind Dallas Goedert and Grant Calcaterra at the tight end position.

FP in Wednesday's practice

Uzomah (abdomen) was listed as a full practice participant on Wednesday's injury report. Uzomah suffered an abdominal injury during the Eagles' Week 17 win over the Cowboys. The injury was severe enough for the veteran tight end to be placed on injured reserve, which forced him to miss the Eagles' first three playoff games. Uzomah's ability to practice in full Wednesday is a sign that he is near full health, and he could be activated from IR ahead of Sunday's Super Bowl LIX clash against Kansas City.
