Christian Matthew: Breaking News

Waived from IR

The Cowboys waived Matthew (groin) from injured reserve Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Matthew will now have the chance to sign with another team once he's fully recovered from a groin injury that he suffered during the Cowboys' second preseason game against the Ravens in mid-August. The 2022 seventh-rounder last saw regular-season action in 2023, when he played in six games between the Cardinals (four) and Bears (two).

Reverts to injured reserve

Matthew (groin) reverted to the Cowboys' injured reserve list Wednesday, per the NFL's official transaction log. The cornerback was waived with an injury designation Monday. Matthew will now have to reach an injury settlement with Dallas to have a chance to play in 2025. The former Cardinal and Bear last appeared in an NFL game in 2023.

Gets waived with groin issue

Dallas waived Matthew (groin) with an injury designation Monday, Joe Hoyt of The Dallas Morning News reports. Matthew suffered a groin injury during the Cowboys' second preseason game versus the Ravens, and now he's going to waivers. If he's not claimed by another team, he'll revert to Dallas' injured reserve list and be required to stay there for the whole 2025 season.
