The Packers cut Tune on Tuesday. After being locked into the No. 7 seed in the NFC playoffs heading into Week 18, the Packers opted to make normal starter Jordan Love active in a backup role for the regular-season finale, while No. 2 quarterback Malik Willis (shoulder/hamstring) was inactive. As a result, the Packers turned to Tune to make a spot start in the regular-season finale, with the 26-year-old attempting just 11 passes as Green Bay rolled out a conservative game plan in a 16-3 loss to the Vikings. Both Love and Willis are on track to be available for Saturday's wild-card game in Chicago, and the Packers have now opted to part ways with Tune. Green Bay will still keep a third quarterback on its roster for the playoffs, however, as Desmond Ridder was signed off the practice squad in a corresponding move. Over his two appearances for Green Bay, Tune completed just seven of 15 passes for 42 yards and an interception while carrying five times for 23 yards.

Clayton Tune: Breaking News
Limited in regular-season finale
Tune completed six of 11 passes for 34 yards without a touchdowns or an interception in Sunday's 16-3 loss to the Vikings. He added 23 rushing yards on four carries. With Jordan Love and Malik Willis (shoulder/hamstring) being held out ahead of the playoffs, Tune made his second career NFL start but wasn't called upon to do too much, as the Packers focused on their ground game. Tune, a fifth-round pick of the Cardinals in 2023, will likely return to the No. 3 spot on the depth chart in the wild-card round next weekend.
Set for Week 18 start
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said Thursday that Tune will start Sunday's regular-season finale on the road against Minnesota, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports. Tune will start Week 18 despite Jordan Love having fully cleared the NFL's concussion protocol, with Green Bay already having secured the No. 7 seed on the NFC side of the playoffs and opting to prioritize the health of its starters. Per Weston Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official site, it has not yet been determined who will operate as Tune's backup versus the Vikings on Sunday between Malik Willis (shoulder/hamstring) and recent practice-squad signee Desmond Ridder, or even Love. It will be a tough ask for Tune to find much success against Minnesota and defensive coordinator Brian Flores, especially if Green Bay decides to rest other offensive starters at the skill positions.
