The Chargers signed Campbell to a reserve/future contract Tuesday. Campbell was part of the Panthers' active roster for the start of the regular season after he was waived by the Chargers at the end of training camp. He appeared in two regular-season games for Carolina before being let go in mid-October with an injury designation due to a hamstring issue. He got another opportunity with the Chargers on the practice squad, and while he didn't get a chance to suit up during the regular season or playoffs, he'll be a part of the Bolts' 90-man roster once the NFL offseason officially begins Feb. 9. That gives Campbell the opportunity to participate in offseason activities with the Chargers before training camp commences in July.

Reverts to practice squad

Campbell reverted to the Chargers' practice squad Saturday, per the NFL's transaction log. Campbell was elevated ahead of Sunday's wild-card loss to New England but ended up being a healthy scratch. The South Carolina product played in two regular-season games -- both with Carolina -- during his rookie campaign, logging nine snaps on offense and nine on special teams without producing any statistical output.

Elevated from practice squad

The Chargers elevated Campbell to the active roster from their practice squad Saturday ahead of Sunday's wild-card matchup versus the Patriots. Campbell is set to be elevated for a third time after having been a healthy scratch during each of his first two elevations. The 24-year-old would likely serve as a depth receiver if he ends up playing Sunday.
