The Packers signed Martinez to a reserve/future contract Monday. Martinez joined Green Bay's practice squad late last December and is now set to remain with the team for the start of the offseason. The 21-year-old was selected in the seventh round of last year's draft by Seattle before being waived in August, and he'll look to earn a spot on the Packers' final roster for the 2026 campaign.
The Packers signed Martinez to the practice squad Tuesday. With MarShawn Lloyd (hamstring) on injured reserve, it seems the Packers would like to bolster their running back room before the upcoming playoff run. The rookie seventh-rounder was waived by the Seahawks at the end of the preseason and has not yet seen action in an NFL regular-season game. Lloyd will be a candidate for elevation if Josh Jacobs, Emanuel Wilson or Chris Brooks were to suffer an injury in the coming weeks.
Martinez was released from the Seahawks' practice squad Friday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports. The Seahawks waived Martinez at the end of the preseason, and he'd been on the practice squad since. He's likely to find an opportunity elsewhere around the league, or he could be re-signed by Seattle if the team shuffles its practice squad roster.
