The Panthers waived Dafney on Monday, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports. Dafney appeared in all three of the Panthers' preseason games, logging three catches (on four targets) for 32 yards. He won't be part of the Panthers' 53-man roster, but if he clears waivers he could remain in Carolina as part of the practice squad. Dafney last saw regular-season action in 2021 with the Packers, when he played in 10 games and caught two passes (on four targets) for 34 yards.

Dominique Dafney: Breaking News
Rejoins Panthers on futures deal
Carolina signed Dafney to a reserve/futures contract Tuesday, David Newton of ESPN.com reports. Dafney did not suit up for regular-season action in 2024, but he did end the campaign on the Panthers' practice squad, and he'll start the new year with them too. Key contributor Tommy Tremble is coming off a contract year and is no lock to be back in Carolina for the next campaign, but Ja'Tavion Sanders projects for a large share of snaps at tight end in 2025 either way.
