Watts was not cleared to practice all week while in the league's concussion protocol, and he'll look to progress enough to be available for the Jets' Week 17 home tilt against the Patriots on Sunday, Dec. 28. Micheal Clemons and Braiden McGregor should both see a slight uptick in defensive snaps Sunday in Watts' absence.

Watts (concussion) was estimated to be a non-participant at the Jets' walkthrough practice Wednesday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. Watts suffered a concussion in the team's loss to the Jaguars in Week 15, and his inability to participate to open the week comes as no surprise. The defensive end will have to clear concussion protocol to play in Week 16, and that seems like quite the uphill battle at the moment.
