Hunter Renfrow: Everything you need to know

Renfrow caught 15 of 26 targets for 89 yards and two touchdowns across six regular-season games in 2025. The 30-year-old wideout joined the Panthers on a one-year deal in late August after taking a break from football in 2024. Renfrow appeared poised to play a significant role early in the season, catching nine of 15 targets for 59 yards and two touchdowns over Carolina's first two games. However, he became a healthy scratch for each game following the Week 6 win over the Cowboys, as Jalen Coker returned from injury and rookie Jimmy Horn emerged as a key depth option. Renfrow was dropped by the Panthers in early January and will not be a part of the team's playoff campaign. If he finds work elsewhere for the 2026 NFL season, he'll likely remain in a reserve role.

The Panthers waived Renfrow on Tuesday, Darin Gantt of the team's official site reports. After sitting out the 2024 season, Renfrow joined the Panthers on a one-year deal during the offseason and was able to secure a spot on the roster coming out of the preseason. The veteran slot receiver saw plenty of involvement early in the season with a 15-89-2 receiving line on 26 targets through the Panthers' first six games, but he was a healthy inactive from Week 7 onward after Carolina got Jalen Coker back from injured reserve. Renfrow will now lose his spot on the roster in advance of the Panthers' wild-card game Saturday versus the Rams with Carolina opting to activate wideout David Moore (elbow) from IR in a corresponding move.

Renfrow (coach's decision) is inactive for Saturday's game against the Buccaneers, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports. Renfrow continues his streak of healthy scratches. The Panthers will roll out Tetairoa McMillan, Jalen Coker, Xavier Legette, Jimmy Horn and Brycen Tremayne for the Week 18 divisional matchup, leaving Renfrow as the odd man out once again.
