The Commanders signed Jones to a future/reserve contract Monday. Jones spent the entire 2025 campaign with Washington, appearing one contest in Week 11 against the Dolphins, reeling in his only target for 25 yards over 11 offensive snaps. The wide receiver will now look to compete for a reserve role behind Terry McLaurin on the active roster in 2026.
Washington re-signed Jones to the practice squad Thursday. Jones had been cut from the practice squad Tuesday to make room for Jake Moody, but he now reunites with the Commanders. The undrafted rookie out of UCF has logged one regular-season appearance with Washington so far, when he secured his only target for 25 yards during the team's Week 11 loss to Miami.
The Commanders waived Jones on Tuesday. Jones' spot on the 53-man roster was needed in order to make room for new kicker Jake Moody. Jones saw his first career regular-season snaps in Sunday's loss to the Dolphins, logging 11 offensive snaps and another seven on special teams. He caught his lone target for 25 yards. Jones could return via the practice squad if he clears waivers.
