Ja'Corey Brooks: Everything you need to know

The Commanders signed Brooks (undisclosed) to a reserve/future contract Monday. Brooks will stick around Washington after spending the 2025 campaign as a member of the practice squad, appearing in the team's Week 6 loss to the Bears, failing to record any stats over seven offensive snaps. The wide receiver also ended the year on the team's practice squad injured list with an undisclosed injury, but he now appears to be healthy ahead of the offseason. With the new deal, Brooks will get the chance to train with the Commanders during the team's offseason activities prior to the 2026 season.

The Commanders placed Brooks (undisclosed) on the practice squad injured list Saturday. Brooks will now be forced to miss at least four games before he is eligible to return. The 24-year-old played just seven offensive snaps and didn't record any stats during his lone appearance this season.

Brooks reverted to the Commanders' practice squad Tuesday. Brooks was elevated for Monday's loss to the Bears to provide depth at receiver. He played seven offensive snaps in the loss but didn't record a target. With Washington having placed Noah Brown (groin/knee) on injured reserve Wednesday, the team could again end up elevating at least one of Brooks or Tay Martin from the practice squad for Sunday's road matchup against the Cowboys in Week 7.
