Jamal Agnew: Breaking News

Waived due to failed physical

The Commanders waived Agnew (undisclosed) on Tuesday. Agnew failed his physical due to an undisclosed injury, and the wide receiver will be sent back to the waiver wire almost as soon as he was claimed off it. The weight of a failed physical may end up condemning the 30-year-old to being a practice squad addition at best for the remainder of the 2025 season.

New opportunity with Washington

The Commanders claimed Agnew off waivers from the Falcons on Monday. Agnew was waived by the Falcons on Saturday, but he'll get a new chance with the Commanders for the final two games of the regular season. He gives Washington another return option on kickoffs and punts after rookie fourth-round wideout Jaylin Lane (ankle) was placed on injured reserve in a corresponding move. Agnew did not record a target across 11 regular-season games with Atlanta, so he's unlikely to have much of an impact on offense with Washington.

Waived by Falcons

Atlanta waived Agnew on Saturday, Tori McElhaney and Terrin Waack of the team's official site report. Agnew spent most of the 2025 campaign operating as one of the Falcons' top kick returners, but he was a healthy scratch Week 15 and has now been cut by the team. If he goes unclaimed on waivers, Agnew will likely pursue a spot on a practice squad elsewhere in the league.
