Jonas Griffith: Breaking News

Gets tryout with Cleveland

Griffith (knee) tried out for the Browns on Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. The linebacker reached an injury settlement with the Broncos ahead of the 2024 campaign after learning that he would need a second surgery to repair a torn ACL he suffered in August of 2023. Before those surgeries, Griffith was a rotational option for Denver, recording 46 tackles apiece in 2021 and 2022. Now, he'll look to revive his career after two years away from football.

Battling for starting job

Griffith, who tore his ACL in August of 2023, has been participating in drills during Denver's training camp and is competing against Cody Barton for the starting inside linebacker job alongside Alex Singleton, Chris Tomasson of The Denver Gazette reports. Griffith noted after practice Monday that he was determined to recover from his torn ACL injury as fast as running back Javonte Williams did last year, per Tomasson. Griffith was able to return to minicamp in June, and the 27-year-old linebacker out of Indiana State is in a battle with Barton for the starting role at inside linebacker. Griffith signed with the Broncos in 2021, and across the first two years of his NFL career, he accumulated 92 tackles (48 solo), one pass defended, one interception and one fumble recovery over 22 regular-season games.
