Kalon Barnes: Breaking News

Works out with Chicago

Barnes (undisclosed) worked out with the Bears on Monday, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports. Barnes was cut after reaching an injury settlement with the Steelers in August of 2024, but he's now healthy ahead of the 2025 campaign. The cornerback appeared in two games with the Vikings in 2022, failing to record any stats while playing nine snaps on special teams. He hasn't appeared in any contests since then.

Let go by Pittsburgh

The Steelers waived/injured Barnes (undisclosed) on Monday. Barnes played 42 snaps (33 on defense, nine on special teams) in Friday's 20-12 preseason loss to the Texans, finishing the contest with three tackles and one pass defended. It's unclear when Barnes sustained the injury, but he will revert to the Steelers' injured reserve should he clear waivers. If that were to happen, the 2022 seventh-rounder would be forced to sit out for the entire 2024 season unless an injury settlement is reached with Pittsburgh.
