Kyle Philips: Breaking News

Let go by Raiders

The Raiders waived Philips on Sunday. Philips caught on with the Raiders in February after spending most of the 2024 season on the Eagles' practice squad, but the 2022 fifth-rounder will explore his next options assuming he clears waivers. Philips last saw regular-season action in 2023 with the Titans, when he appeared in nine games and logged 15 catches (on 22 targets) for 181 yards.

Gets opportunity with Las Vegas

The Raiders signed Philips to a contract Tuesday. Philips spent all of the 2024 campaign on the Eagles' practice squad, failing to get into a game all season for the first time since he was selected by Tennessee in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. The 5-foot-11 wideout has played in 13 regular-season contests, compiling 23 receptions on 35 targets for 259 yards and no touchdowns while also doing some work as a kick and punt returner. Notably, Philips' move to Las Vegas will reunite him with offensive coordinator Chip Kelly, who served as UCLA's head coach during the four seasons Philips played for the school.

Not assured roster spot

Philips is expected to enter training camp fighting for a roster spot, John Glennon of the Nashville Post reports. Philips, a 2022 fifth-round pick, secured 15 of 22 targets for 181 yards across nine appearances last season, and he never managed to play more than 50 percent of offensive snaps. With Calvin Ridley and Tyler Boyd joining DeAndre Hopkins atop the depth chart, and 2022 first-round pick Treylon Burks still vying for opportunities, Phillips finds himself competing for limited reserve roles, and rookie sixth-round pick Jha'Quan Jackson also projects as a slot option and return man.
