Trask signed with the Falcons' practice squad Wednesday, Terrin Waack of the team's official site reports. The 2021 second-round pick from Florida was cut by Tampa Bay in late August after failing to make the team's initial 53-man roster, but he's since found work in Atlanta. Trask is now expected to operate as the Falcons' emergency third quarterback, playing behind Kirk Cousins and Easton Stick.

Kyle Trask: Breaking News
Cut by Bucs
Trask (shoulder) was released by Tampa Bay on Tuesday, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports. Trask lost the backup quarterback battle to Teddy Bridgewater. The 2021 second-round pick's tenure with the Buccaneers comes to an end after four years, during which Trask didn't log a regular-season start. Trask has been among the numerous NFL underachievers from Florida's prolific 2020 NCAA offense, which also included 2021 first-round picks Kyle Pitts and Kadarius Toney. With his shoulder healed, Trask will look to latch on with another team, though it will likely be on a practice squad.
Bucs reportedly moving on
The Buccaneers plan to move on from Trask, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports. Per Fowler, Trask, who is dealing with a minor shoulder issue, is in line to be cut with an injury designation and then revert to IR. Once that happens, the QB will look to reach an injury settlement with the Buccaneers, which would allow him to sign elsewhere once he's healthy. As a result of the looming move, Teddy Bridgewater is set to serve as Baker Mayfield's top backup ahead of Week 1.
