Jones completed 20 of 32 passes for 225 yards and a touchdown with an interception in Sunday's 26-23 overtime loss to the Colts. He added 17 rushing yards on five carries. He connected with Parker Washington for a nine-yard score in the fourth quarter that tied the game at 20-20, although it nearly didn't count -- the wideout lost the ball just before the goal line but was ruled to have recovered it and gotten into the end zone before being downed. Jones saw significant action in eight straight games to close out the 2024 season, starting seven of them in place of Trevor Lawrence (shoulder), and the former Patriot completed 65.2 percent of his passes during that span with an 8:8 TD:INT and a 6.5 YPA. While those numbers were merely adequate, they could be good enough to earn him some attention from QB-needy teams this offseason as part of a free-agent class that figures to have little depth beyond Sam Darnold.
Jones completed 15 of his 22 passes for 174 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in Sunday's 20-13 win over the Titans. The Jaguars never trailed in the game and had a 13-0 lead by halftime. That allowed the ground game to be the focus of the offense, though Jones delivered when called upon. He completed a pair of passes when given a short field early in the second quarter, which concluded with a two-yard touchdown toss to Parker Washington. He later orchestrated a 16-play, 74 yard drive that was capped by an 11-yard touchdown to Brian Thomas that sealed the win for the Jaguars early in the fourth quarter, a possession that also included a deep 24-yard completion to Washington. Jones had a rocky beginning to his time as the starter in Jacksonville, though he's led a relatively competent offense in recent weeks and has multiple touchdowns in three of his last five games.
Jones completed 25 of 39 passes for 247 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in Sunday's 19-14 loss to the Raiders. The Jaguars haven't been afraid to take to the air with Jones under center, as he's now attempted 46 and 39 passes in the last two weeks. His stat line was driven by that volume rather than efficiency, illustrated by averaging just 6.3 yards per attempt despite connecting with Brian Thomas for a 62-yard score late in the third quarter. The biggest positive for the day was Jones' ball security, as Sunday marked only the second time he did not turn the ball over in six games as Jacksonville's starter.
Jones completed 31 of 46 passes for 294 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in Sunday's 32-25 loss to the Jets. Jones threw a three-yard touchdown pass to Brian Thomas on the opening drive, taking advantage of a drive-extending holding penalty on Sauce Gardner. Jacksonville's next possession ended in an interception, but Jones subsequently led the Jaguars to two field goals to take a 13-7 lead into the locker room. The Jets eventually inched ahead 17-16 before Jones responded with a 19-yard touchdown pass to Thomas with 10:58 to go in the fourth quarter. Jacksonville answered another Jets go-ahead score with a game-tying field goal, but after the Jets took the lead again, Gardner got the last laugh with a game-sealing interception of Jones in the final minute. This was an encouraging outing for Jones, who set a season high for passing yards and doubled his season touchdown-pass total heading into a Week 16 road game against the Raiders, which will have significant implications for the 2025 NFL Draft order.
Jones completed 23 of 31 passes for 220 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions in Sunday's 10-6 win over the Titans. Jones connected with Brian Thomas on long passes of 21 and 31 yards early in the third quarter to set up the lone touchdown of the game. Those were the highlights of an otherwise unremarkable performance, as he turned the ball over with a bad interception early in the opening quarter when he overthrew Thomas and otherwise struggled to move the offense. Positively, the Jaguars managed to end their five-game losing streak, and Jones will lead the offense once again heading into a Week 15 matchup against the Jets.
Jones appears on track to step in as the Jaguars' starting quarterback beginning with Sunday's game at Tennessee after Jacksonville placed Trevor Lawrence (concussion) on injured reserve Wednesday. Lawrence technically could return from injured reserve in Week 18, but it's probably not a consideration, as there had been discussion of him undergoing surgery on his left shoulder before he suffered a concussion during Sunday's 23-20 loss to the Texans. Jones played well in relief of Lawrence on Sunday, after struggling mightily in previous two games when Lawrence was inactive and Jones was the starter. The Jaguars could eventually turn to CJ Beathard but will likely stick with Jones for at least the Week 14 contest. Over his two starts and three appearances off the bench this season, Jones has completed 57 of 92 pass attempts (62 percent) for 512 yards (5.6 YPA), two touchdowns and three interceptions while carrying 10 times for 21 yards and a touchdown and losing two fumbles.
Jones replaced Trevor Lawrence (concussion) with 3:57 remaining in the second quarter of the Jaguars' 23-20 loss to the Texans on Sunday and completed 20 of 32 passes for 235 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. He also rushed three times for six yards, recovered a fumble and threw a two-point conversion pass. Jones got off to a slow start reminiscent of his lackluster two-game starting stint in Weeks 10 and 11, but he built momentum over the course of the second half and nearly rallied the Jaguars via a pair of fourth-quarter scoring tosses to Parker Washington (22 yards) and Brian Thomas (six yards). Jones is seemingly slated for at least one more start at the very minimum in a Week 14 road matchup against the Titans, and given the state of Jacksonville's season and Lawrence's value to the franchise, the former could well remain under center for what remains of the campaign.
Jones will serve as the Jaguars' backup quarterback in Sunday's game against the Texans with Trevor Lawrence (shoulder) having been cleared to start after missing the previous two contests, Demetrius Harvey of the Florida Times-Union reports. While Lawrence could still require offseason surgery to address an AC joint sprain in his non-throwing shoulder, the quarterback looks on track to play through the issue over the final six games of the season after he responded well during a trio of limited practices this week. Jones had filled in for Lawrence as Jacksonville's starter in the two games prior to the team's Week 12 bye, completing 31 of 51 pass attempts (60.8 percent) for 249 yards (4.9 YPA), no touchdowns and three interceptions in losses to the Vikings and Lions. Despite the pair of poor showings, Jones will at least retain the No. 2 job ahead of C.J. Beathard, who is inactive for the Week 13 contest.
Jones completed 17 of 29 passes for 138 yards with no touchdowns and one interception while adding two rushes for seven yards in the Jaguars' 52-6 loss to the Lions on Sunday. Making his second straight spot start for Trevor Lawrence (shoulder), Jones was essentially as ineffective as he had been in Week 10 against the Vikings, with the exception being he threw one fewer interception. Otherwise, the 2021 first-round pick was completely incapable of helping the Jaguars keep up with a juggernaut of a Lions offense that failed to score only on a meaningless end-of-game drive. Jones unsurprisingly focused most of his attention on Brian Thomas and Evan Engram, but he figures to revert to a backup role for a Week 13 home matchup against the Texans on Sunday, Dec. 1 since Lawrence will likely have enough time to get healthy over the Week 12 bye.
