The 33-year-old wide receiver is in line to miss his fourth consecutive game Sunday, as he continues to recover from a concussion. Goodwin has appeared in eight games for the Browns this year, catching three of his 11 targets for 10 yards, while playing 84 total snaps (all offensive). With Goodwin missing Sunday's contest, David Bell and James Proche could very well see increased opportunities in Cleveland's WR room.
Goodwin sat out of Sunday's loss at Denver due to a concussion, which he's still dealing with to start the Browns' new week of practice. He'll likely need to return to practice Thursday or Friday to have a chance to play in Week 13 at the Rams.
Goodwin will miss a third consecutive game. He remains in the NFL's five-step concussion protocol and has yet to resume practicing. The speedy wide receiver's next chance to suit up will come Dec. 3 against the Rams.
Goodwin hasn't played since Week 9 and has been stuck in concussion protocol ever since the Browns traded Donovan Peoples-Jones to Detroit on Oct. 31. Rookie Cedric Tillman has taken over a starting job alongside Amari Cooper and Elijah Moore, but Goodwin eventually could poach snaps from Tillman once he's cleared to play.
This news comes as no surprise after Goodwin was unable to practice in any capacity throughout the week. The speedy wide receiver will hope to return Week 12 against the Broncos for his first action since Week 9. Amari Cooper, Elijah Moore and Cedric Tillman will continue to work as Cleveland's top three wide receivers against the Steelers.
Goodwin suffered the concussion in Week 9 against the Cardinals and has yet to get back on the field since. The 32-year-old could still return this week against the Steelers, but he'll likely need to log a full practice without any setbacks to do so.
The same applies to David Bell (knee), which sets the stage for Amari Cooper, Elijah Moore and Cedric Tillman to lead the Browns' Week 10 WR corps. In eight games this season, Goodwin has been limited to three catches on 11 targets for 10 yards.
Goodwin sustained the head injury after he appeared to take a shot to the helmet from a defender while he attempted to haul in a third-down pass from Deshaun Watson during the Browns' first possession of the second half. With David Bell (knee) inactive for the contest and Donovan Peoples-Jones having been shipped to Detroit ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline, the Browns are left with Cedric Tillman and James Proche as their depth options at receiver behind starters Amari Cooper and Elijah Moore.
