The Commanders cut Strachan from the practice squad Friday. Washington needed Strachan's roster spot for kicker Greg Joseph. Strachan has bounced off and on the practice squad with the Commanders this season, but he's yet to appear in a regular-season contest since last year with Carolina.

Strachan has bounced back and forth between the Panthers' active roster and practice squad this season, and he's appeared in two games thus far. In those appearances, the third-year wideout was able to catch one of his two targets for 45 yards. Strachan's signing is likely in response to Laviska Shenault (ankle) shifting to injured reserve Thursday.
