Montrell Johnson: Breaking News

Gets reserve/future deal with CAR

The Panthers signed Johnson to a reserve/future contract Monday, Darin Gantt of the team's official site reports. Johnson signed with Philadelphia as an undrafted free agent last April and later got a look from the Cardinals before catching on with Carolina's practice squad in mid-December. The Florida product didn't see any regular-season action this season, but he'll now have a chance to show the Panthers what he can do during upcoming offseason activities.

Joins Carolina's practice squad

Johnson signed with the Panthers' practice squad Wednesday, Darin Gantt of the team's official site reports. Johnson was cut from the Cardinals' practice squad in early December, but it didn't take long for him to find a new home in Carolina. The Florida product has yet to make his NFL debut after posting 593 rushing yards, 64 receiving yards and six total touchdowns during his final collegiate season in 2024.

Cut from practice squad

The Cardinals cut Johnson from the practice squad Tuesday, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports. Johnson caught on with the Cardinals' practice squad this past Wednesday after being without a team for nearly three months. His stint with Arizona will end up lasting less than a week after he was let go from the practice squad, and he'll look to catch on with a team in need of backfield depth. The undrafted rookie has yet to appear in an NFL regular-season game.
