Kansas City waived Powell on Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. After signing Emari Demercado in March and using a fifth-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft on Emmett Johnson on Saturday, the Chiefs found that they didn't have room for Powell anymore. The undersized running back will now have to look for another opportunity with a different team.

Finds work with Kansas City
The Chiefs signed Powell to a reserve/future contract Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Undrafted out of Central Arkansas last April, Powell signed with the Eagles but was cut following the preseason after rushing 10 times for 23 yards and one touchdown across two exhibitions. He'll try to impress the coaching staff in Kansas City this offseason.
Cut by Philadelphia
The Eagles waived Powell on Monday, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports. Powell was signed by the Eagles in early May as an undrafted free agent. He had his moments during offseason practices but wasn't able to translate that into on-field success in the preseason, finishing with 10 carries for 23 yards and a touchdown while adding one catch for two yards across three games. Powell will have the opportunity to sign with another team if he clears waivers, but he could remain in Philadelphia as part of the team's practice squad.
