Rangers-Lightning Preview

Henrik Lundqvist has won six Game 7s in a row, the largest streak ever of any NHL goalie. The Rangers’ goalie’s career Game 7 wins are the highest in history next to legends Patrick Roy and Martin Brodeur.

In addition, the Rangers are tied with the Detroit Red Wings for the longest streak in history with six straight Game 7 wins. It’s hard to bet against a team on that kind of run and with that kind of goalie.

Tampa Bay’s counterpart to Lundqvist is Ben Bishop. Though he’s playing in his first postseason and lacks Lundqvist’s track record, he came up big in the first round, making 31 saves in a 2-0 Game 7 win over the Red Wings.

The Rangers’ Mats Zuccarello is questionable after missing 13 games from an injury caused by a head shot by a Ryan McDonagh in Game 5 of the first round against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Tampa Bay’s most solid defenseman, former RangerAnton Stralman, is 6-0 in Game 7s and helped lead the Rangers to the finals last year.

Last year, he was a key player in helping the Rangers to the finals and he could be a huge factor in bringing the Lightning there too.
