DraftKings Golf: Jordan Spieth Chambers Bay Fantasy Advice

The rules are simple: With a fixed salary cap of $50,000, choose 6 golfers you feel have the best chance to play well at Chambers Bay in Washington state. The better your selected players do, the better your fantasy team does. The idea is to not only pick golfers who can make the birdies and pars, but play the entire 4 rounds. Picking a pro who misses the cut isn’t going to help.

The pros will be playing on the links-style course of Chambers Bay, so it’s important to identify the players who can hit well out of the sand and are quality scramblers. Because there will be undulated fairways and greens and high dunes, signatures of links courses. The course is long, so driving distance is also key. And no matter what, you need to have a good putter in order to succeed.

Jordan Spieth already has one major under his belt in 2015. Remember that weekend at Augusta National?

He hasn’t slowed down since. Spieth did miss the cut at The Players, but got right back on his game and has won nearly twice in the past 3 weeks (tied for 2nd and a tied for third). That’s a great sign.

Our Recommendation

Spieth is peaking heading into golf’s second major with 2 top 5s in his past 3 tournaments. But Chambers Bay really is an unknown. He ranks well in all important statistical categories this week, especially scrambling. As we saw back at Augusta National, pressure does not phase him. And considering this is a major and not the East Bumble Open, that could go a long way. You can certainly build your team around Spieth, but you’ll need to do some serious bargain shopping to fill out a 6-player lineup. That’s somewhat of a gamble.

Scoring Notes: Ties for a finishing position will not reduce or average down points. For example, if 2 golfers tie for 3rd place, each will receive the 18 fantasy points for the 3rd place finish result. Playoff Holes will not count towards final scoring, with the exception of the “finishing position” scoring. For example, the golfer who wins the tournament will receive the sole award of 1st place points, but will not accrue points for their scoring result in the individual playoff holes.
