
Welcome to the All-Star break. Home field advantage in the World Series is on the line and both leagues have officially announced their starters for the All-Star game. There have been some changes since the original lineups were announced, with injuries taking their mid-season toll, so click through the gallery to check out which American League standouts will be on the field for the opening pitch. Perez, one of four Royals voted onto the AL starting lineup, has already up'ed his out-of-the-park numbers this year, he finished with 17 homers in 150 games last season.

As the Astros' leadoff hitter, Altuve also boasts 42 runs scored and 24 stolen bases, numbers that rank him among the best in the MLB.

Alcides Escobar, Kansas City Royals, SS

Escobar will be the first shortstop to start for the AL since Derek Jeter, who had played in the All-Star game each year since 2005.

Josh Donaldson, Toronto Blue Jays, 3B

Donaldson was the AL's top-vote getter with more than 14 million fan votes.

Adam Jones, Baltimore Orioles, LF

Lorenzo Cain, Kansas City Royals, OF

Cain finished all of last year with just five home runs and 55 runs scored. He already has six homers this season and 48 runs scored.

Nelson Cruz, Seattle Mariners, DH
.304 BA, 21 HR, .364 OBP
Cruz has been dominating at the plate this season, well on his way to a seventh-straight 100-plus hit year with 92 as of Monday night.
