If there was ever a time to start Andre Johnson, wouldn’t it be tonight?

Johnson is a key storyline in tonight’s Colts-Texans matchup, as his unceremonious exit from Houston was a big point of contention this week. Johnson felt he was forced out; the last in a long string of negotiation breakdowns between AJ and the Texans.

When Johnson signed with the Colts this offseason, it was considered one of the best moves of the summer. The rich getting richer. In reality, Johnson has provided little to no on-field value this season. He has been a complete fantasy dud, and an overall massive disappointment. Seven catches, 51 yards,

Shouldn’t this be the week he breaks out?

The strongest evidence we have is Steve Smith’s thrashing of the Carloina Panthers last season. After promising them in a post-game conference he would shred Carolina’s secondary, Smith went on to do just that in his first season with the Ravens.

The difference between the receivers is ability. While Johnson was the better overall receiver in his prime, at this current stage he has had difficulty separating from coverage. In fact, his struggles have been so bad that he’s losing out on snaps to Donte Moncrief.

If you’re still holding out hope that the old Andre Johnson can make an appearance this season, tonight is your best shot. After tonight, he may slip off the fantasy radar entirely.
